Destination Imagination Information
Does your child want to have fun and be part of a team?
Does he/she like to create new things? Build or design? Paint or draw? Act or improvise? Write or compose? Does he/she look at things differently than others? Enjoy being part of a team?
If the answer is yes to these questions, your child would enjoy being on a Destination Imagination® team!
What is Destination Imagination?
Destination Imagination, or DI, is an after-school program sponsored by LAS.
Teams are managed by parent volunteers and runs from November to March.
The teams choose one of 7 STEM related projects to work on over the course of approximately 12 weeks.
Each year DI has different criteria that the kids have to adhere to, making each year a unique experience.
Teams build props, make their own costumes, write skits, or do community service and then present their project to a panel of DI Appraisers at the Regional competition in March.
Teams do all the work themselves with no “interference” from non-team members, especially parents.
There are also Instant Challenges where the teams learn to think quickly, on their feet, to solve a problem.
